- •Bits are sturdy, well-made, and impact-resistant, offering good durability that holds up well under heavy use with impact drivers.
- •The set includes a wide variety of 60 impact-rated bits covering Phillips, Torx, square, flat, and hex screws, making it versatile for many applications.
- •Bits have a precision fit with screws, greatly reducing wobbling, stripping, and improving grip on tough materials.
- •The magnetic bit holder has a strong grip, helping keep bits organized and easy to access, especially in tight or overhead spaces.
- •Not made in China, which some users appreciate for quality and ethical reasons.
- •Preferred by some users over competing brands such as Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Ryobi.
- •Compact and relatively well-organized case design allows for easy storage and portability.
- •Includes several T25 and T27 Torx bits, which are popular sizes for automotive and maintenance work.
- •Made from high-quality materials, making them reliable and suitable for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts.
Cons
- •The case design is a significant weak point; bits can be difficult to remove, fall out easily, and the inserts are poorly designed, requiring careful handling.
- •Some users reported bits breaking early, including Torx and flat head bits snapping or breaking on first or second use, raising questions about durability consistency.
- •Quality appears to be inconsistent, with a portion of users finding the bits unreliable compared to previous expectations or other brands.
- •A single T30 bit is included, which may be insufficient for users needing multiple bits of that size.
- •Some feel the product no longer meets the high-quality standards expected from Makita.
- •While sturdy, these bits aren't completely indestructible; they may not last as long as sometimes claimed by the brand.
Bottom Line
The Makita E-01644 Impact XPS 60 Piece Impact Bit Set offers a robust and versatile collection of impact-rated bits that excel in fit, grip, and overall performance, especially when paired with impact drivers. However, the case design leaves much to be desired, and there are mixed reports on bit durability—some users have experienced early breakage. If you prioritize bit variety and fit but want a more reliable case, this set is a solid choice. For those seeking exceptional durability and a better case design, it may be worth exploring other options or waiting for deals on premium sets.
