Cons
- •The TV episodes have not been remastered, resulting in somewhat grainy and standard definition picture quality that may feel dated.
- •Some discs reportedly have playback issues or inconsistent physical quality, occasionally behaving as if scratched despite no actual damage.
- •Extra DVD features can be choppy and less polished, somewhat detracting from the bonus content experience.
- •The packaging design is considered somewhat haphazard and less user-friendly, with two separate boxes inside a larger box.
- •The included episode guide (movie guide) contains many typos, which can be distracting but remains readable.
- •The large number of discs (39 total) could be overwhelming and challenging to get through within standard return policy windows.
- •While the set includes two movies, they are packaged separately on the product page, which may cause some initial confusion.
Bottom Line
If you love classic TV and want the full MacGyver experience with every episode and both movies in one set, this collection is a solid pick that delivers nostalgia and family-friendly entertainment wrapped in a compact package. Keep in mind the series is presented in original standard definition without remastering, and some discs may have occasional playback glitches, so it’s more about the content than high-tech visuals. If you’re looking for pristine video quality or a more streamlined package, the market might have alternatives, but for dedication to the original series and bonus collectibles like the Swiss Army knife, this is an excellent choice.
