Pros
- •Excellent value for the price, delivering impressive performance and vibrant colors that enhance the viewing experience.
- •Very clear picture quality with good brightness and wide viewing angles, suitable for large spaces and professional environments.
- •Easy setup process including seamless WiFi connection and smooth integration with devices like DirecTV and Fire TV stick.
- •Decent to outstanding sound quality that can often eliminate the need for an external sound bar.
- •User-friendly Web OS interface with a numeric pad on the remote, making navigation simpler than some competitors.
- •Highly customizable picture and volume settings allow users to tailor their experience.
- •Strong recommendation for budget-conscious shoppers who want a large 86-inch UHD 4K TV with smart features and Alexa compatibility.
- •Durable build that fits well even in older furniture like armoires, ideal for space-conscious installations.
Cons
- •Black levels, while decent, are less profound than OLED models and occasionally image breakup occurs in dark, fast-action scenes.
- •Some lag and slow response reported in the Web OS interface, which can affect smooth operation.
- •Imbalance between dialog and loud scene audio, causing jarring volume shifts.
- •Cosmetic quirk where the volume display shows a null symbol (∅) instead of numeric values, which can be confusing.
- •Occasional failure of automatic HDMI channel switching when using external devices like Fire TV sticks.
- •Privacy concern as LG tracks viewing habits without an obvious opt-out option.
- •Some users experienced sound connectivity issues with external devices and occasional abrupt changes in picture quality, such as unexpected high contrast or black-and-white scenes during streaming.
- •Built-in tutorial voice is reportedly too fast and difficult to understand.
- •Customer service and refund process dissatisfaction noted by a few users, though unrelated to the product’s performance itself.
Bottom Line
The LG 86UA7700PUA offers a large, vibrant 4K viewing experience packed with smart features at a wallet-friendly price, making it a compelling choice for those needing big-screen entertainment without breaking the bank. While it won’t rival OLEDs in black depth and has minor quirks like interface lag and audio balancing, it shines with excellent brightness, color reproduction, and ease of use. If you want sharper blacks and more refined premium features, be aware this model leans more toward value than luxury. For a budget-friendly option in the 86-inch UHD arena with Alexa compatibility and good picture quality, this LG is definitely worth considering.
