Pros
- •Stunning OLED picture quality with deep blacks, vibrant colors, and excellent HDR performance thanks to VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack500, delivering a cinematic gaming experience.
- •Ultra-fast performance with an impressive 280Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time ideal for competitive gaming and ultra-smooth visuals.
- •Supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, reducing screen tearing and stuttering for a fluid gameplay experience.
- •Large 27-inch QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) strikes a harmonious balance between sharpness and performance without the heavy GPU demands of 4K.
- •Sleek, modern design with thin bezels, a heavy stable base, and VESA mount compatibility for flexible setups.
- •High color accuracy with up to 99.5% DCI-P3 coverage makes it suitable for some color-critical work and content creation with included calibration tools.
- •HDMI 2.1 support ensures future-proofing for next-gen gaming consoles and high-bandwidth devices.
- •Adjustable stand provides smooth height adjustment, enhancing ergonomic comfort during long sessions.
- •Minimal latency modes and responsive input performance make it a dream for fast-paced gaming and streaming.
Cons
- •Some users experienced compatibility issues with certain laptops (notably Acer Nitro 5 with Windows 11 and NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti) over HDMI, with the monitor not being recognized despite troubleshooting.
- •No Dolby Vision support, which could have enhanced HDR content in compatible games and media.
- •The aggressive curve and ultra-wide aspect ratio might produce slight text sharpness issues for heavy reading or text-based productivity compared to traditional flat QHD monitors.
- •OLED screens require cautious use to avoid burn-in, needing periodic image cleaning cycles and screen saver management.
- •Stand tilt options are limited, and the single-button control system can feel a bit clunky without a remote.
- •Anti-glare coating slightly reduces the OLED’s natural contrast and deep blacks compared to a glossy finish.
- •Developed a dead pixel reported after about 20 days by at least one user, which could be a concern for panel longevity.
Bottom Line
The LG 27GX700A-B Ultragear OLED QHD monitor is a compelling choice for gamers seeking razor-sharp responsiveness, stunning OLED visuals, and future-proof features like HDMI 2.1 at a solid 27-inch size. However, potential buyers should keep in mind the risk of OLED burn-in and the reported occasional compatibility quirks with some laptop HDMI setups. If you want a large OLED experience without moving up to 4K and are ready to embrace an immersive curved screen for gaming and creative work, this monitor shines. For those worried about compatibility or OLED longevity, carefully consider your setup or look into similar LG Ultragear models or alternative IPS gaming monitors.
