Pros
- •Offers great value for casual woodworkers with a budget-friendly price.
- •Comes with a 5-year warranty, adding assurance of quality.
- •Works well for beginner and hobbyist projects in small spaces.
- •Lightweight and jobsite-friendly due to the aluminum top.
- •Includes two featherboards, enhancing its utility.
Cons
- •Fence misalignment due to design flaws, leading to inconsistent cuts.
- •Height adjustment is nearly unusable and prone to stripping, causing the router to drop unexpectedly.
- •Plastic and aluminum materials can flex under use, affecting stability.
- •Internal cavities collect sawdust, complicating maintenance.
- •Poorly designed table legs and construction lead to flexing.
- •Bit changes are cumbersome due to insufficient router body length.
- •The table initially flat can develop a slight dip after installation.
- •Converts awkwardly between handheld and table-mounted use.
- •Inconsistent owner’s manual, lacking comprehensive guidance.
- •Risk of accidental power activation when changing bits.
Bottom Line
The Kobalt Fixed Corded Router with Table Included might appeal to budget-conscious casual woodworkers due to its affordability and warranty. However, its significant design flaws, particularly with height adjustments and material stability, make it unsuitable for precision tasks and heavy use. Consider looking for a more refined router setup if precision and reliability are a priority.
