Cons
- •Assembly can be time-consuming and frustrating due to unclear and confusing instructions; many recommend watching online tutorials to ease the process.
- •Plastic tires occasionally lose traction, requiring a brief pause to re-engage the gas.
- •Loader bucket is more for play than actual digging or heavy lifting and may not last as long as other parts.
- •Large size requires significant storage space and should be kept dry to avoid wear.
- •Trailer accessory is unstable and tips over easily, making it unsafe for kids to ride in.
- •Initial battery charge requires about 18 hours to maintain warranty coverage.
- •The high price tag (~$289) may feel steep given some usability quirks and plastic construction.
- •Plastic construction means it’s not suitable for heavy-duty or very rough use.
- •Some minor missing parts reported at delivery, though resolved quickly by customer service.
Bottom Line
The Peg Perego John Deere Ground Loader Ride On is a high-quality, durable ride-on toy that excels in creating imaginative outdoor fun for young children, especially those fascinated by farm and construction vehicles. While it delivers solid battery life, robust build, and realistic design, potential buyers should be prepared for a challenging assembly process and understand that some features like the loader bucket and trailer have limitations. Its large size means you’ll need proper storage, and the plastic tires might struggle on tricky surfaces. If you want a long-lasting, fun ride-on with decent power and versatility, this is a strong candidate, but if you need better traction or a more rugged toy, exploring rubber-tired or metal-framed alternatives might be wise.
