Pros
- •Produces fantastic 360-degree video quality with crisp and steady footage.
- •The 8K resolution offers impressive detail, though it feels more like dual 4K cameras combined.
- •Significant improvement in low light and night recording performance compared to previous models.
- •Waterproof design enables outdoor and sports use, especially with user-replaceable lenses for versatility.
- •The companion app is feature-rich and user-friendly, making capturing and editing 360 content straightforward and fun.
- •Creative video features like tiny planet effects and invisible selfie stick functionality enhance the unique 360 experience.
- •Trusted and preferred by professional photographers for quality and reliability.
- •Easy to operate, perfect for both casual users and content creators.
- •Allows HDR recording at 60 frames per second, delivering smooth and vivid video playback.
Cons
- •Underwater video quality suffers without the additional dive case due to stitching issues.
- •The marketed "8K" resolution can feel less like true 8K and more like two 4K feeds stitched together.
- •Some users may find the camera a bit pricey given the niche 360 action camera market.
- •Battery life and recording duration details are not highlighted, so heavy users may want to check further.
- •While lenses are user-replaceable, swapping them in certain environments may be cumbersome.
Bottom Line
The Insta360 X5 is a standout choice for anyone serious about 360-degree action and outdoor video creation, delivering sharp footage, excellent low light performance, and versatile creative tools. Its waterproof build and user-replaceable lenses add adaptability for travel and sports, though underwater shooting without a dive case can disappoint. If you want a top-tier 360 camera backed by professional trust and a smooth editing ecosystem, this is a solid pick. However, if pure 8K fidelity or deep underwater shooting is your priority, you might want to explore accessories or alternative cameras.
