Pros
- •Easy to install and works effectively once recognized by the printer.
- •Produces generally good print quality with clear, sharp text.
- •Price-competitive compared to retail store prices for the same cartridge model.
- •Compatible with many HP ENVY and Officejet printer models as specified by the manufacturer.
Cons
- •Ink tends to run out much faster than the claimed 200-page yield, often within a month or fewer than 25 printed pages.
- •High ink consumption and quick drying out cause frequent low ink warnings and dissatisfaction.
- •About 15% of cartridges are reported defective, failing to be recognized by printers or appearing used/refilled.
- •Some new cartridges have missing protective tape or questionable packaging, raising concerns about authenticity.
- •Performance inconsistency leads to frustration, with some users experiencing multiple cartridge failures.
- •Not well-suited for infrequent printers due to drying and shortened lifespan.
- •High cost per page given the quick depletion of ink makes the cartridge feel overpriced.
- •Some users consider switching to third-party alternatives or different printer technologies (e.g., laser) due to reliability and economics.
Bottom Line
The HP 62 Black Ink Cartridge delivers good print quality and straightforward installation for compatible HP ENVY and Officejet printers. However, frequent reports of early ink depletion, drying issues, and defective cartridges make it a gamble that may cost more than it's worth over time. If you value reliability and want your ink to last, you might want to consider third-party cartridges known for better longevity or even explore laser printers for more economical printing on a regular basis.
