Cons
- •Loading cells are extremely delicate and prone to breaking from minor movement or cleaning
- •Frequently produces inconsistent measurements, often requiring multiple attempts to get reliable results
- •Known to be one of the most inaccurate scales on the market despite claims of 0.25 oz accuracy
- •Not designed for heavier babies or situations where the baby applies significant pressure
- •Durability concerns—may not last through multiple children or a full typical childhood period
- •Plastic foot mounts are fragile and require careful handling to prevent damage
- •Limited one-year warranty despite reports of failures occurring after 18 months of use
- •Difficult to clean after certain accidents, requiring vigorous scrubbing or protective covering
Bottom Line
The Hatch Baby Grow Smart Changing Pad and Scale excels at its primary mission: helping breastfeeding parents track feeding success and monitor infant weight gain with real peace of mind. The app integration is genuinely useful, and customer service stands out as a real strength. However, the durability and accuracy issues are serious concerns—multiple reviewers reported inconsistent measurements and failures beyond the one-year warranty period, which is troubling for a product at this price point. If you're primarily looking for a basic changing pad with bonus smart scale features, this could work, but if accuracy and longevity are critical for your needs, you may want to research competing products or consider whether the investment justifies the reported reliability issues.
