- •Stylish Venetian bronze finish enhances the exterior appearance of the house with a pleasing and sophisticated look
- •Sturdy, durable galvanized steel construction that feels solid despite being lightweight
- •Smooth-operating lid that effectively keeps rain out, protecting mail inside
- •Spacious enough to hold catalogs, large envelopes, and small packages without cramming or folding
- •Locking mechanism provides good security and peace of mind against mail theft or tampering
- •Easy installation process, with mounting holes aligned to standard spacing and a clear setup for the lock and mail slot
- •Includes keys, "MAIL" emblem, and easy-to-follow instructions for quick setup
- •Lock restricts mail slot to letters only, leaving larger parcels safely on the porch
- •"MAIL" emblem stays attached well over time despite an initially flimsy peel-and-stick feel
- •Mounts securely on brick or wall surfaces, with a security hole preventing removal when locked
Cons
- •No mounting screws included, so buyers must purchase appropriate anchors or screws separately
- •Back of mailbox leaves a gap when mounted flush to the wall, sometimes requiring an additional support piece for a snug fit
- •Lock installation requires manual setup with a clip and lacks detailed instructions, which can be confusing
- •Adhesive on the "MAIL" emblem feels cheap at first and may benefit from added glue to stay put firmly
- •Lock limits the mail slot to letters, so some users may need to consider how packages are delivered or where they will be left
- •The gap behind the box can be a potential entry point if not properly supported or sealed
- •Limited color option—only Venetian bronze—so may not suit every aesthetic preference
Bottom Line
The Gibraltar Mailboxes Designer Locking Medium Capacity mailbox offers a great balance of style, security, and weather protection at an attractive price point. Its durable galvanized steel build, smooth operation, and locking feature make it a solid choice for homeowners concerned with mail safety and curb appeal. Just be ready to supply your own mounting hardware and perhaps add some extra support behind the box for a perfect wall fit. If you need a similar mailbox with possibly clearer lock instructions or a different color option, feel free to explore other options, but for reliable everyday use with a classy finish, this one performs admirably.
