Cons
- •The cardboard back cover is flimsy and requires a binder or support when not at a desk
- •Prefers a more durable, sturdy structure for writing on uneven surfaces like sofas
- •The plastic cover, while durable, isn't eco-friendly and might appeal to users seeking sustainable options
- •The new version’s study app squares show inconsistent line quality—smeared or barely visible lines
- •Recent design changes have resulted in thinner pages that tear out easily
- •Overall size has been reduced, making it hard to fit standard printer paper in the folders
- •Increased price paired with a perceived decline in quality frustrates longtime users
- •Some find the line quality in the study app inconsistent across batches
- •Notes on thin paper that, while not bleeding through, leaves an imprint on the other side
- •The product may not meet expectations for those seeking a robust, eco-friendly, or more traditional hardcover notebook
Bottom Line
This Five Star spiral notebook offers solid durability and great organization features—ideal for students and journaling enthusiasts alike. However, recent updates have caused some long-time users to notice thinner pages, less sturdy covers, and inconsistent line quality in the study app squares. If you prioritize a resilient cover and high-quality paper, you might want to explore alternatives with reinforced covers or eco-friendly materials. Nonetheless, it remains a popular choice for those who value flexible organization within a single multi-section notebook.
