Pros
- •Lightweight and easy to maneuver around the house, making cleaning less of a chore.
- •Strong suction power that handles everyday messes, including stubborn pet hair and crumbs.
- •Battery life generally lasts long enough to clean an entire average-sized home (about 1500 sq ft) on regular or even high power mode.
- •Converts seamlessly into a handheld vacuum for tackling furniture, ceiling fans, and tight spots.
- •Attachments snap on and off easily with a satisfying click, no fumbling with parts.
- •Comes with a wide variety of specialized tools like the Hair screw tool for pet beds and the Motorbar cleaner head that detangles hair as you clean.
- •Advanced HEPA filtration captures pet allergens and fine dust, releasing cleaner air in your home.
- •Durable design with replaceable components such as battery and brush bar, extending the vacuum’s life.
- •Convenient wall mounting dock stores and charges the unit, keeping it ready for action.
- •Highly reliable and favored by users who prefer it over other vacuum brands for indoor cleaning, especially in homes with pets.
Cons
- •Battery life can feel mediocre on turbo mode and tends to diminish after extended heavy use, though the battery is replaceable.
- •Charging process is somewhat slow and requires precise placement on the dock to charge properly.
- •Lacks a battery level indicator, leaving users guessing about how much power remains.
- •Occasional mild static shocks when the vacuum brushes against the hip during use.
- •No digital reminders for maintenance like filter cleaning, relying on users to remember.
- •Some customers report frustrating and unhelpful customer service, with limited support beyond basic troubleshooting videos and difficulties registering the product.
- •Certain design elements feel inferior compared to earlier models (like the Dyson V7), which some users prefer.
- •Capacity is on the smaller side (0.14 gallons), meaning more frequent emptying during deep cleans.
- •Some find the vacuum less suited for very large homes, especially if cleaning at max power frequently.
Bottom Line
The Dyson V8 Extra Cordless Cleaner Vacuum in purple is a versatile, powerful, and lightweight stick vacuum that excels at managing pet hair and everyday dirt with convenient cordless freedom and a great set of tools. Its HEPA filtration and user-friendly attachments make it a winner for households with pets or allergy concerns. However, the battery life and charging quirks might frustrate heavy users or those with larger homes, and customer support has room for improvement. If you need longer runtime or a more advanced battery interface, you might want to consider newer Dyson models or alternatives with extended battery life. If durability and effective pet hair removal with a trusted brand are your priorities, the V8 Extra remains a solid choice.
