Cons
- •The monitor ships with HDMI 2.0 cables despite advertising HDMI 2.1 support, which means you may need to purchase a separate HDMI 2.1 cable to fully utilize 4K at 144 Hz.
- •The power button is small and subtly placed under the bottom edge of the monitor, making it awkward to locate at first.
- •Minimal included setup documentation forces users to rely on online manuals, which can make initial setup confusing.
- •HDMI port orientation can be tricky to figure out on first use, especially when switching inputs between HDMI and DisplayPort.
- •The VA panel, while having excellent contrast, has limited viewing angles which might show slight color shifting if not viewed head-on.
- •Requires a powerful GPU (such as an RTX 3070 or better) to game at native resolution and high settings smoothly at high refresh rates.
- •Slight light bleed may show up under very close inspection, though generally not noticeable during normal use.
- •Some users report needing specific types of security cable locks as not all compatible with the monitor’s lock slot.
- •The slight curve of the screen is mild; some ultrawide enthusiasts might find it less immersive compared to more pronounced curves.
Bottom Line
The Dell G3223Q is a fantastic choice for gamers and professionals seeking a premium 32-inch 4K monitor with a rare 144 Hz refresh rate and rich color performance. While the HDMI cable discrepancy is an inconvenient snag, this monitor stands out for its balance of immersive visuals, ergonomic features, and solid build quality. If ultra-smooth 4K 144 Hz gaming is your goal, make sure to get an HDMI 2.1 cable to unlock its full potential. For those prioritizing perfect viewing angles or needing a stronger curve, alternatives exist, but overall, this monitor is a versatile powerhouse for both work and play.
