Pros
- •Compact size is excellent for storage and portability
- •Surprisingly sturdy and durable plastic construction with smooth, well-finished surfaces
- •Lightweight and portable design suitable for small hand tools
- •Can be closed and locked for security
- •Handle folds completely flat, making it stackable
- •Spacious enough to hold a drill and multiple other items
- •Good value for occasional use storage needs
- •Versatile for various applications (boats, closets, craft supplies, vehicles)
- •Functions well as a basic storage solution within its intended purpose
Cons
- •Latch is flimsy and unreliable, particularly when loaded with heavy tools
- •Plastic latch lacks durability compared to metal alternatives
- •Shelf doesn't always fit properly and lid may not close if loaded incorrectly
- •Small size limits total storage capacity
- •Not ideal for items that need daily access
- •Best suited for light-duty applications rather than heavy-duty work
- •Can get very hot in direct sunlight
Bottom Line
The CMST16005 is a solid budget-friendly tool box for occasional, light-duty storage of small tools and supplies, particularly if you need something compact and portable. However, the flimsy plastic latch is a notable weakness that won't hold up well under heavy loads, so this isn't your best bet if you need secure storage for expensive or heavy tools. It shines in specialized applications like vehicle storage or organizing craft supplies in tight spaces.
