Cons
- •Claw 'seats' are flimsy and bow under the weight of a toddler, indicating thin plastic.
- •Some concerns about the lid not being heavy enough to stay secure in high winds.
- •The lid sits on top without latching, requiring additional weight in storms.
- •A suggestion for alternative color options without decorative features for a simpler look.
- •Issues with retailer customer service; consider purchasing from different companies.
- •Occasional bug presence, though not a direct result of the sandbox itself.
Bottom Line
The Step2 Crabbie Sandbox is a durable, creative play option for toddlers and young children, designed to withstand challenging weather and keep sand dry. While the cover effectively protects contents from rain, the claw seats and non-latching lid present minor drawbacks. For those seeking a sturdy, large sandbox for outdoor or covered play areas, it is highly recommended. If you require a more secure lid, consider additional weights for windy conditions.
