Pros
- •Pleasant fresh scent and effective cleaning noted by some users.
- •Recommended as a gentler option for dishware compared to coarse dry pods/powder detergents.
- •Preferred over machine pods or crystals for better control over detergent usage.
- •Squeeze bottle allows for precise measurement and effective dissolution.
- •Small amount needed per wash extends product longevity.
Cons
- •Ineffective at cleaning dishes, often necessitating re-washing.
- •Leaves water spots and a dull sheen on silverware.
- •Dishes, glasses, and silverware can end up with a white film/residue.
- •The detergent taste can be detected in water and food.
- •Struggles in different water types, leaving spots; using a rinse aid doesn't help.
- •New formula leaves a noticeable residue and has an unpleasant lingering scent.
- •Higher cost per use compared to alternative products.
- •Ineffective at cleaning stuck-on food, even on pre-rinsed dishes.
Bottom Line
The Cascade® Fresh Scent Gel Dishwasher Detergent has a nice scent and gentle cleaning formula, making it a good option for those cautious about using harsher detergents. However, its cleaning efficacy is inconsistent, especially in hard or moderately soft water, where it may leave residue and spots. If you face these issues, or need effective cleaning of tough, stuck-on food, consider switching to a more robust cleaning product like detergent pods, despite the slightly higher cost.
