Pros
- •Highly accurate range finding with fast, one-press pin lock-on using PINSEEKER with Visual JOLT vibration and red ring flash for clear confirmation.
- •Hybrid design uniquely combines GPS and laser rangefinding, providing front, center, and back green yardages alongside laser pin distance in one device.
- •Appreciable color display stands out and displays multiple yardages within the viewfinder, enhancing shot planning and convenience.
- •Built-in GPS eliminates the need for a separate device and quickly recognizes courses for fast setup.
- •Improved optics and magnification compared to previous Bushnell models deliver a clear, crisp view for more confident targeting.
- •Lightweight (under 9 oz), weather-resistant (IPX6 rating), and rugged construction ensure durability during rounds.
- •Uses replaceable CR123A lithium batteries (two included) that enable about 30-35 rounds per battery, avoiding the hassle of frequent recharging.
- •Magnetic cart mount and solid included case add practical benefits for storage and accessibility on the course.
- •Straightforward, intuitive operation with slope compensation easily toggled on or off for use in tournaments or casual play.
- •The free Bushnell Golf app is well-designed and enhances functionality without subscription fees common to competitors.
Cons
- •The display is not illuminated, making it harder to read distances in low-light or overcast conditions.
- •No lanyard attachment available, which might be inconvenient for players who prefer neck-strap carrying options.
- •After about 9 weeks, some users report needing to re-pair with an iPhone before each use due to Bluetooth connection lapses.
- •Technical support involves shipping the device for evaluation in case of issues, which can result in lengthy downtime.
- •Despite its high price, the device lacks advanced replacement options and immediate technical troubleshooting.
- •Some users mention that the GPS placement update in this model is less convenient for quick distance checks compared to the previous generation’s side placement.
Bottom Line
The Bushnell Golf Tour Hybrid Laser Rangefinder impresses with its hybrid GPS/laser combo, stellar accuracy, and rich feature set that seriously upgrades your pace of play and shot strategy. Its clear viewfinder display of multiple yardages and fast pin lock-on technology make it a solid choice for serious golfers who want all-in-one convenience without juggling multiple devices. However, if you play often in low-light conditions or want seamless Bluetooth reliability long-term, these are things to keep in mind. The lack of a built-in illuminated display and the firmware connectivity quirks could be dealbreakers for some. Overall, it’s a premium, rugged option worth considering if you prioritize hybrid functionality and tactile feedback — just be prepared for some app pairing annoyances and a higher price point. If you want to explore other options that emphasize longer battery life or more illuminated displays, let us know, and we can help find alternatives tailored to your needs.
