Cons
- •Long-term picture quality can decline, with some reviews noting fading or bleaching after months
- •Poor color accuracy in some instances, with hair and objects sometimes appearing discolored
- •Night vision is decent but limited outdoors in total darkness due to weak illumination
- •Requires a subscription to access recorded footage and continuous recordings after the trial
- •Limited live stream duration (60 seconds) without a subscription, which hampers extended monitoring
- •Live stream has a noticeable 10-second delay, which can be frustrating for real-time safety monitoring
- •Occasional network disconnections, making consistent remote access unreliable at times
- •Resetting often involves unplugging the camera physically, which can be inconvenient
- •Does not support powering solely through existing doorbell wiring; requires a separate power source
- •Short live stream limit makes it less suitable for monitoring infants or pets for extended periods
Bottom Line
The Blink Mini 2 is a solid pick for those seeking a quick, easy-to-install outdoor camera with excellent live view performance and good night vision in daylight. However, its reliance on subscriptions for full functionality and the limited live stream window might make it less ideal for continuous or long-term monitoring needs. If you're after a camera that offers endless live viewing without extra costs, you might want to consider alternatives like the Geeni cameras, which often support unlimited live feed with minimal delays.
