Pros
- •Seasoning is easy to apply and spreads evenly, creating a smooth, non-stick cooking surface.
- •Produces a perfect dark finish after a few uses, enhancing both new and well-used griddles.
- •The 2-in-1 formula cleans, protects, conditions, and cares for cast iron while preventing rust and moisture damage.
- •Plant-based, chemical-free, and vegan, safe for all metal cookware including griddles, skillets, Dutch ovens, pots, and pans.
- •A little goes a long way—small 15.3 oz container lasts through many uses and improves cookware longevity.
- •Penetrates deeply into cast iron pores to build a durable, professional-quality seasoning layer.
- •Enhances food flavor subtly without altering smell or taste, and food releases easily from the surface.
- •Creates a greasy coating that builds a strong, shiny, and easier-to-clean surface over time.
- •Produces minimal smoke during application, with a mild, non-overpowering scent.
- •Convenient resealable packaging helps prevent spills and allows for easy storage and transport.
Cons
- •Requires multiple coats during initial seasoning for best results, which can be time-consuming.
- •Not the cheapest seasoning option on the market, making it less ideal for very frequent applications or tight budgets.
- •The seasoning process may produce fumes that some find strong or unpleasant, potentially annoying neighbors.
- •Best used once a week for thorough conditioning rather than after every cook, so it’s not an all-in-one quick fix.
- •Has a solid, wax-like texture that needs heat to melt evenly, which might be tricky for beginners to apply smoothly.
Bottom Line
The Blackstone 4146 Griddle Conditioner Kit is a high-quality, plant-based seasoning solution that excels at protecting and maintaining cast iron and griddle surfaces with a durable, non-stick finish. It’s especially great for those who want a chemical-free alternative that lasts long and seriously enhances cooking performance. However, it’s a bit pricier and requires patience with multiple coats and occasional fume considerations. If you want great, long-lasting seasoning without animal byproducts and don’t mind investing a bit more time and money, this is a solid pick. For those on a tighter budget or seeking quicker seasoning options, you might want to consider more traditional oils or alternative kits.
