Pros
- •A must-have for Barbie collectors, offering a nostalgic design celebrating the 50th anniversary.
- •The doll is visually appealing, charming, and described as 'super nice.'
- •Highly recommended for enhancing a collection due to its unique 'then and now' packaging that features both original and modern Barbie designs.
- •It's a great gift option for both collectors and young children.
- •Includes a removable bikini, adding a fun element to the doll's design.
- •Attractive promotional price available for a limited time.
Cons
- •The surprise accessory, a tote, is made of cardboard, which is disappointing.
- •There is an expectation that the accessory would be made of plastic based on images, leading to unmet expectations.
- •The packaging does not meet expectations, with some reporting yellowing of the plastic.
- •Confusion regarding the 'then and now' concept as only one doll is included, while the 'then' version is just depicted on the packaging.
Bottom Line
The Barbie Then and Now 1959-2009 50th Anniversary Bathing Suit Doll is a delightful tribute to Barbie's legacy. Its charming design and nostalgic appeal make it an excellent addition to any collection or a treasured gift for Barbie enthusiasts. However, potential buyers should be aware of the cardboard accessory disappointment and packaging issues. Despite these minor setbacks, the doll itself is loved for its aesthetic appeal and collector value.
