Pros
- •Extremely versatile, bonding well to plastic, vinyl, metal, fabric, and toys, making it a true all-rounder.
- •Known for long-lasting seals that hold up both indoors and outdoors for years without leaks.
- •Highly effective for both small holes and larger cracks, especially when used with patches for reinforced repairs.
- •Creates a strong yet somewhat flexible bond, ideal for applications needing durability with a bit of give.
- •Consistently praised for marine and water-exposed uses, like fixing kayaks, boats, and RC vehicles, outperforming many other adhesives.
- •Quality adhesive that holds up over time without losing strength or durability.
- •Sets by solvent evaporation, offering a reliable hold once fully cured.
- •Recommended as a superior choice over generic household glues for marine and heavy-duty repairs.
- •Users report the product performs exactly as expected with a dependable adhesive power.
Cons
- •The thickness of the glue can make precise application tricky and a bit messy; using a small tool like a toothpick is advised.
- •Long cure time—can take several days to fully set, especially when applied thickly or on large areas, so not suitable for quick fixes.
- •Solvent offgassing may linger for up to 24 hours after application, and the strong odor means it’s best used outdoors or with ventilation/mask.
- •Opened tubes can lose potency over time, requiring squeezing out the older layer to reach fresh glue underneath.
- •Not ideal for very fine repairs on ceramics or porcelain, since the adhesive remains visible in cracks after drying.
- •Needs proper care, including cleaning the tube threads and securely recapping, to maintain usability and prevent drying out.
Bottom Line
Amazing GOOP 170011 Marine Adhesive is a powerhouse for tough, versatile repairs, especially if you need a durable, flexible seal that can take on marine and outdoor challenges. Be ready to wait for the full cure and expect some odor during application, but the long-lasting results and strong adhesion are worth it. If you want a tried-and-true solution for plastics, vinyl, metal, and fabric with excellent longevity, this is a smart pick. For fast-dry needs or delicate ceramic work, you might want to explore specialized adhesives instead.
