nullThe choice depends on your priorities: stunning visuals with perfect blacks (OLED) or better battery life and lower cost (LCD).
Quick decision guide:
Get OLED if you do professional photo/video work or prioritize display quality above all else. Get LCD if battery life matters or you're budget-conscious. It's still an excellent display.
Key differences:
| Feature | 2.8K OLED | 2K LCD | |---------|-----------|--------| | Resolution | 2880 x 1800 | 1920 x 1200 | | Color gamut | 100% DCI-P3 | Wide color gamut | | HDR | Dolby Vision | No | | Touch | Yes | No | | Price premium | +$300-400 | Base price |
Battery life impact:
| Usage | OLED | LCD | |-------|------|-----| | Mixed productivity | 10-12 hours | 13-15 hours | | Video playback | 16-18 hours | 25-27 hours |
That 3-5 hour difference is significant for mobile workers.
Eye strain consideration:
OLED uses PWM dimming, which causes fatigue for some users during long sessions. If you've experienced discomfort with OLED phones, consider the LCD.
The LCD's secret weapon:
The LCD can drop to 1Hz refresh when viewing static content like documents. This is why Dell claims 27 hours of battery. It's genuinely impressive technology.
Bottom line:
Unless you need DCI-P3 color accuracy for professional creative work, the LCD is the smarter choice. Better battery, lower price, no PWM concerns.
