Some Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra users have discovered they can't achieve the advertised 25W wireless charging speeds, with actual speeds limited to around 15W in certain situations.
The Issue
While Samsung advertises 25W wireless charging, independent testing has found that many cases—including Samsung's own official options—limit wireless charging to 15W. Affected cases include:
- Samsung Silicone Magnet Case
- Samsung Clear Magnet Case
- Samsung Rugged Magnet Case
- Samsung Slim Magnet Case
Why Cases Limit Speed
Wireless charging transfers energy between coils in the charger and phone. Any material between these coils reduces efficiency. The jump from 15W to 25W requires even more precise alignment and proximity, making the system more sensitive to interference from case materials.
Your Options
For maximum 25W speed:
- Remove your case during wireless charging
- Use a Samsung wireless charger rated for 25W
- Ensure proper alignment between phone and charger
Alternative approaches:
- Accept 15W charging through your case for convenience
- Use 60W wired charging when you need speed
- Look for ultra-thin cases designed for high-speed wireless charging
Putting It in Perspective
15W wireless charging remains adequate for:
- Overnight charging
- Desk charging during work hours
- Casual top-ups throughout the day
When 25W actually matters:
- Quick midday top-ups when time is limited
- Situations where removing your case is practical
For truly fast charging, wired remains superior at 60W—more than double even maximum wireless speed. This limitation isn't unique to Samsung; it's inherent to current wireless charging technology across all phones with cases.
