The Saros 10R and Saros 10 look nearly identical and share that same impossibly thin 3.14-inch profile. But under the surface, they're built quite differently.

The Navigation Story

The 10R uses internal sensors without any protruding LiDAR tower. It relies on StarSight 2.0, which combines solid-state LiDAR with cameras and 3D sensors that can identify over 100 different obstacles.

The Saros 10 has a retractable LiDAR turret on top that drops down when going under furniture. It's clever engineering, but some users report it navigates more efficiently in complex home layouts.

Mopping: Spinning vs. Vibrating

Here's where it gets interesting. The 10R has two spinning mop pads that rotate to scrub your floors. The Saros 10 has a single vibrating pad. Both approaches work, but they handle carpets differently.

The 10R lifts its mops only 8mm when it detects carpet. The Saros 10 lifts its mop 18mm. If you have thick pile carpets, that difference matters. Some 10R owners with plush rugs noticed the mop pads occasionally touching carpet fibers.

Suction Power

The Saros 10 technically has more suction at 22,000Pa versus the 10R's 20,000Pa. In real testing, both clean about equally well. The difference is negligible for most floors.

The Docking Stations

The 10R's Multifunctional Dock 4.0 uses 80°C hot water for mop washing. The Saros 10's RockDock Ultra 2.0 adds adaptive temperatures and hot air drying at 60°C. The Saros 10 dock is arguably better.

Is the 10R Worth $500 More?

The Saros 10 has dropped to around $1,099 while the 10R sits at $1,599.

For most homes, the Saros 10 is the better value. It performs almost identically in cleaning tests and has the better dock.

The 10R makes sense if your floors are cluttered with cables, shoes, and pet toys everywhere. That superior obstacle avoidance becomes worth the premium when it's saving you from rescuing your robot multiple times a week.
