Let's talk about gaming on this laptop. I'm going to save you some disappointment and be brutally honest: if you're buying this laptop with any hope of gaming, you're going to be frustrated.
The Hard Truth About Gaming Performance
I tested this thing with games I thought would be easy wins—simple 2D indie games that should run on a potato. Even Halls of Torment, which looks like it was made in 1995, struggled to maintain smooth framerates.
Real-World Gaming Test Results: When I fired up some basic games, here's what happened:
- Valorant? Wouldn't even launch (anti-cheat issues)
- Rocket League? Laggy mess at lowest settings
- Minecraft? Playable but choppy
- Among Us? Actually worked okay (barely)
The Adreno graphics in this Snapdragon chip just aren't meant for anything more demanding than displaying spreadsheets.
Why Gaming Fails So Hard
It's not just that the graphics are weak (though they are). It's the perfect storm of problems:
The ARM Problem: Half the games you want to play won't even recognize this as a valid gaming device. Anti-cheat software freaks out because ARM processors are so uncommon in gaming PCs.
The Performance Problem: Even when games do run, you're looking at slideshow framerates. We're talking 15-20 fps in games where you need 60+ to enjoy the experience.
The Compatibility Problem: Your Steam library becomes a minefield of "Will this work?" uncertainty.
What Actually Works for Fun
Don't despair completely. If you're into casual gaming, you've got some options:
Cloud Gaming is Your Friend: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate streaming actually works great on this laptop. Good internet required, but then you can play demanding games because they're running on Microsoft's servers, not your laptop.
Browser Games Rule: Wordle, chess.com, online card games—these work perfectly and actually take advantage of the great battery life.
The Bottom Line: Buy for Work, Game Elsewhere
This laptop is fantastic at what it's designed for: work, productivity, and lasting all day. But if gaming matters to you, literally any gaming laptop under will destroy this + machine in gaming performance.
Consider getting this for work and keeping your gaming on a console, gaming PC, or cloud gaming service.
