The Westcott 16717 CarboTitanium Guillotine Paper Cutter seems to be quite safe and user-friendly from what I've gathered. It comes with a well-marked alignment grid and offers both US and metric measurements, which can be super helpful for getting those precise cuts you need, whether you're working in a classroom or an office.
What really makes it interesting is this CarboTitanium blade. According to some info I found, it's about 8 times stronger than your regular stainless steel blades, which probably explains why a lot of folks mention it delivers clean and straight cuts. It's good for handling a bunch of paper at once—up to 30 sheets of 20-pound paper—so it's pretty efficient for those big projects.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is the safety guard. While it's important for keeping you safe, a few people have mentioned it can sometimes block your view of the cutting line a bit. So, you might just need to be extra careful to line up your cuts exactly right. Overall, people still seem really happy with it.
In short, if precision cutting is what you're after, the Westcott 16717 should have you covered. It's generally well-regarded as a sturdy and reliable tool that gets the job done accurately.
