Hey! If you're just getting started with climbing, the Black Diamond 9.9 Climbing Rope might be a solid pick for you. From what we've found, folks really like its durability and how easy it is to handle.
That 9.9mm diameter seems to hit a sweet spot between being tough and user-friendly, which is handy when you're new. The manufacturer describes it as able to handle lots of use yet still stay flexible, which is great for getting the hang of smooth belaying and tying knots.
Plus, there's this halfway marker feature that people find super helpful for keeping safety in check during climbs or rappelling. It comes in a dual blue color, which isn't just nice to look at—it actually helps with visibility. This can be a plus when you're finding your way in tricky spots.
That said, just a heads-up—our research points out that it's a bit on the heavier side, so if you're really focused on cutting down weight, that might be something to consider.
Also, some folks mentioned the sheath might slip a little after using it a lot, which could be worth keeping in mind if you're thinking about hitting rough terrains often.
All in all, it gets a pretty thumbs-up review, especially for things like indoor climbing or top roping, where the weight isn't as big a deal. If you're looking for a rope to start climbing with, it sounds like it could be a pretty good fit!
