The Whale Fall Hard Casing Bike Bag is meant to help cyclists carry their smartphones safely. When it comes to its waterproof feature, the manufacturer claims it can handle some water, like during light rain or from brief splashes. But keep in mind, it's not totally waterproof, so heavy rain could still be an issue if you're out for a long time.
The bag does come with a rain cover, which adds a little extra protection against water, according to the manufacturer's product description. This is handy if you're caught in a drizzle or get some splash from the road.
From what we've found, people generally find the bag works well in light wet conditions. But remember, the rain cover isn't a complete shield against a downpour or being dunked. So, if you expect to bike in really tough weather, you might want to think about extra protection, like a waterproof phone case or a fully waterproof bag.
The bike bag fits phones up to 6.9 inches, like the iPhone 15 and Galaxy S22 Ultra. It also has a sensitive TPU touchscreen for easy use. Most folks say the touchscreen is pretty responsive, but watch out if your phone's in a thick case; you might have trouble with the physical buttons.
Some have mentioned fitting issues, especially with thicker cases like the OtterBox Defender. A slimmer case should fix that, though. If your phone's in a really rugged case, you might have a hard time getting it in the bag or using the side buttons comfortably.
It's a good idea to try out the bag with your phone and case before a long ride. You might also consider getting a case that's easier to fit in the bag.
Overall, it's a well-liked accessory for biking, but it's best to plan a bit ahead of time to make sure it works for your setup.
