The Tetra Whisper EX 70 Filter is supposed to be pretty quiet, living up to its 'Whisper' name. It's designed for tanks from 45 to 70 gallons, and according to the manufacturer, it uses a multi-stage filtration system that helps keep the noise down.
Our research shows some mixed feedback on how quiet it really is, though. Many folks are happy with how quietly it runs, especially when everything's set up just right. When the water level is where it should be, people often say it's "very quiet."
But, not everyone has the same experience. Some folks notice it gets noisier after they've been using it for a while. It seems like issues can pop up if maintenance isn't kept up or if the water levels aren't stable.
We've found that stuff like debris in the propeller can start to make it louder, so regular maintenance might be key to keeping it quiet.
So, if you're on top of maintenance, you'll probably enjoy a quiet filter that matches its quiet branding. But if maintenance isn't really your thing, you might hear some noise creeping in over time.
