The Keepsmile 100ft LED Strip Lights are built to stick around for quite a while, with a lifespan of up to 50,000 hoursāat least that's what the manufacturer says. Of course, how long they actually last will depend on a few things, like where you use them and how you take care of them.
Now, these lights are really meant to shine indoors. The manufacturer highlights their colorful and customizable features, which makes them perfect for inside setups. It's tempting to put them outside, but there's a catch: they aren't waterproof. So, you wouldn't want to leave them out in the open where they can get wet.
That said, some folks have had success using similar strips in protected outdoor areas, like under a covered patio. They keep the lights safe from rain and harsh conditions.
If you decide to go this route, maybe consider some waterproof tubing for extra protection, just keep in mind this isn't officially backed by the manufacturer and could void warranties.
Indoors, if you install them right and keep them clean, you'll likely get close to that full lifespan. Just make sure to avoid places with too much humidity, and give them a quick check every now and then for any damage.
If you're really set on lighting up an outdoor area, it might be better to look for LED strips specifically made for outdoor use.
But if you're in love with the Keepsmile look and are okay with some risks, those precautions for outdoor use might do the trick.
In short, while these are awesome for indoor spaces, you'll want to be extra careful if you're thinking about using them outside without any protection.
