The Fellowes PrivaScreen Privacy Filter is designed for 22-inch widescreen monitors with a 16:10 aspect ratio. From what we've found, it's pretty effective at blocking screen views from the sides, which is great if you're working in shared spaces and want to keep things confidential. When it's properly aligned, it makes the screen look quite dark from the side, keeping your info private.
The manufacturer claims it will "black out" side angles, but our research mentions that how well it works can sometimes depend on things like lighting and the angle you're viewing it from. In bright lighting or certain angles, it might not totally block the view, so aligning and setting it up correctly is key.
As for putting it on your monitor, some folks have noted that getting the alignment right is important. This prevents weird things like blur and keeps things clear when you're looking straight on. Plus, it has a reversible side that cuts down on glare, which is super helpful if you're working under bright lights and prone to eye strain.
Lots of people have noticed less glare and eye discomfort, though you might see a slight dimming of the screen.
Aside from privacy, it also protects your screen from scratches and fingerprints, which is a nice bonus. If you're worried about the screen getting dim, making sure it fits your monitor well and adjusting your monitor’s brightness can help balance things out.
Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone needing extra privacy without losing much display quality.
