So when you're stacking up the Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BK against the older LP120 model, there are some interesting improvements.
The manufacturer says the new LP120XUSB-BK brings more polished performance and enhanced features, appealing to both serious audiophiles and casual listeners.
One big change is the switch to a servo direct-drive motor, which really ups the turntable's precision and makes it run quieter. This is great news if you're aiming for top-notch audio quality since it cuts down on mechanical noise and offers a clearer sound.
Both models are manual, so no fancy automatic tonearm return here—it's all about that hands-on vinyl experience. While some might find this a bit of a hassle, plenty of vinyl fans actually love the control this offers.
Our research shows that many enthusiasts swear by the manual setup for delivering a purer audio vibe.
The LP120XUSB-BK also keeps the built-in preamp and USB output from its predecessor, which is nice if you're into digitizing your vinyl collection. It's a handy feature for merging classic vinyl with digital, without losing any of that vinyl charm.
The sturdy build quality is still a highlight with the LP120XUSB-BK, and various reviews back up its durability and stability during play. People have mentioned the improved sound quality, thanks to the upgraded drive system and the option to switch between phono and line-level outputs for more audio setup flexibility.
If you're looking for auto features like auto-return or auto-stop, you'll need to check out other models since this one keeps it manual.
But for a lot of folks, that's part of the appeal—it offers a more connected and rewarding listening experience.
In all, the AT-LP120XUSB-BK blends the best of tradition and tech advances, making it a solid choice for newcomers and seasoned vinyl fans alike.
