There's no manual update button for AirPods firmware. Updates happen automatically.
Checking Your Version: Settings → [Your AirPods] → scroll to "Firmware Version"
How Updates Install:
- AirPods in charging case
- Case connected to power
- iPhone nearby with Bluetooth on
- WiFi connected
Leave everything charging overnight for best results.
If Updates Aren't Installing:
- Forget AirPods in Bluetooth settings
- Reset: Hold case button until amber → white
- Re-pair with iPhone
- Update iPhone to latest iOS
- Leave everything charging overnight

- 8B30 (December)
- 8B25 (November)
Both addressed static noise issues.
Android Limitation: You cannot update firmware without an Apple device. Need iPhone, iPad, or Mac for updates.
