The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra offers professional-grade video capabilities that rival dedicated cameras, headlined by the new APV codec and comprehensive manual controls.
APV (Advanced Professional Video) Codec
Samsung's flagship video feature uses intra-frame compression:
- Each frame recorded individually
- Quality remains consistent regardless of motion
- No quality degradation in fast-moving scenes
- Professional-grade color accuracy
File size consideration: 4K/30p records at ~900Mbps (approximately 7GB per minute). Essential to have adequate storage or external recording capability.
Resolution and Frame Rate Options
| Resolution | Frame Rates | Use Case | |------------|-------------|----------| | 8K | 30fps | Maximum detail | | 4K | 60fps, 30fps | Best balance | | 1080p | up to 120fps | Slow-motion | | 720p+ | Super slow-mo | Extreme slow-motion |
Stabilization Features
Super Steady Video: Uses gyro and accelerometer data to automatically level horizon and smooth movement. Walking shots look surprisingly professional without a gimbal.
Standard OIS: Optical stabilization on main cameras for handheld static shots.
Pro Video Mode
Manual control over all parameters:
- ISO sensitivity adjustment
- Shutter speed control
- Manual focus
- White balance fine-tuning
- Audio source selection
- LOG recording for color grading
Additional Features
Director's View: Record front and back cameras simultaneously—ideal for vloggers and reaction content.
Audio Focus: Intelligent microphone selection that reduces background noise.
HDR10+ Recording: High dynamic range capture for compatible displays.
External Recording
For serious video work, you can record directly to a USB-C external SSD—essential for extended APV codec recording sessions.
Low-Light Video
The wider f/1.4 aperture improves video performance in challenging lighting, with cleaner footage in evening and indoor conditions.
The S26 Ultra is arguably the best video phone available for content creators.
