No, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's S Pen does not have Bluetooth. You cannot use it as a remote camera shutter or for gesture controls.
What's Different
Samsung removed Bluetooth connectivity starting with the S25 Ultra, and the S26 Ultra continues this approach. The S Pen is now a passive EMR stylus.
Features No Longer Available
| Feature | Status | |---------|--------| | Remote camera shutter | Not available | | Air Actions (gestures) | Not available | | Presentation control | Not available | | Media playback control | Not available |
Features That Still Work
All core S Pen functions remain fully operational:
- Screen writing and note-taking
- Drawing and sketching applications
- Screen-off memos
- Smart Select and translation
- Handwriting-to-text conversion
- Precision navigation and tapping
Why Samsung Removed Bluetooth
Samsung cited low usage rates for Bluetooth features. The simplified passive stylus never needs charging and is always ready to use.
Design Changes
- Curved tip matches the S26 Ultra's rounded corners
- Repositioned slot location
- No longer reversible in the slot
Future Development
Samsung has confirmed work on next-generation S Pen technology, potentially using USI 2.0 standard, but no release timeline has been announced.
