Some Galaxy S26 Ultra owners have reported display concerns. Here's a balanced look at the issues and important context.
Text Sharpness
Some users report text appears less sharp than on the S25 Ultra. This is subjective, with many users noticing no difference.
Eye Strain Reports
Users sensitive to PWM (pulse-width modulation) flicker may experience:
- Eye fatigue during extended use
- Headaches after prolonged sessions
- Greater sensitivity when switching from other phones
Note: Many users report zero eye strain issues.
8-bit vs 10-bit Display
| Panel Type | Colors | S26 Ultra | |------------|--------|-----------| | 8-bit | 16 million | Actual panel | | 10-bit | 1 billion | Simulated via dithering |
Samsung initially described the display as 10-bit but later confirmed it's 8-bit with dithering technology.
Brightness Testing
- Samsung claim: 2,600 nits peak
- Lab results: ~1,806 nits
- S25 Ultra comparison: ~1,860 nits
Important Context
- Individual experiences vary significantly
- Many reviewers report excellent display quality
- The panel still ranks among the best available
- PWM sensitivity differs between users
- Recommendation: Test in-store before purchasing if concerned
These reports represent a subset of users. The display remains highly rated overall, but those with known screen sensitivities should evaluate in person.
