The Pixel 10 Pro XL is eSIM-only in the United States. There's no physical SIM card tray on US models. Google followed Apple's lead with this change.
International versions maintain a hybrid setup with one nano-SIM slot plus eSIM support. Outside the US, you can use a physical SIM, an eSIM, or both simultaneously through Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS).
For US customers, the eSIM-only approach offers real advantages. You can store 8+ eSIM profiles and have two active simultaneously. Setup is straightforward: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs > Add SIM, then follow the prompts.
All major US carriers fully support eSIM activation:
- Verizon – Full support (unlocks after 60 days)
- AT&T – Full support with dual eSIM
- T-Mobile – Easy transfer process
- Google Fi – Native integration
Most carriers let you convert existing SIMs through their app. Some require visiting a store or getting a QR code.
Pro tips:
- Disable SIM lock/protection features on your carrier account before transferring
- You'll need stable Wi-Fi to download carrier settings
- If you need a physical SIM for international travel, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold retains a physical SIM tray in all regions
The transition to eSIM-only may feel like a change, but once set up, it's actually more convenient. No more hunting for SIM eject tools or worrying about losing tiny cards.
