nullHere's the truth about Pixel 8 charging: it works fine, but don't expect to be blown away by the speed. Google gives you 27W wired charging, which sounds decent until you realize some phones charge at 100W+ these days.

The Real Charging Experience

With a good 30W USB-C charger (which you'll need to buy separately – thanks, Google), you can get from dead to 50% in about half an hour. That's actually pretty handy when you're rushing out the door. A full charge takes roughly 2 hours, which isn't terrible, but it's not exactly speedy either.

The wireless charging at 18W is honestly more convenient than I expected. I love just dropping the phone on my wireless charging pad and forgetting about it. Sure, it takes 3-4 hours to fully charge wirelessly, but for overnight charging, who cares?

What's Frustrating

The biggest annoyance? No charger in the box. Seriously, Google? I get that it's supposedly better for the environment, but when you're spending + on a phone, including a decent charger should be standard.

Also, if your phone gets warm (which Pixel 8s tend to do), the charging slows down significantly. I've noticed this especially during summer months or when I'm using the phone while it's plugged in.

The Bottom Line

Is the charging fast enough for daily life? Absolutely. Will you be jealous when your friend's OnePlus phone charges in 25 minutes? Probably. But for most people, being able to get a meaningful charge in 30 minutes is perfectly adequate.

The wireless charging and reverse charging features are nice bonuses that actually get used more than I initially thought they would. Consider investing in a quality USB-C cable for the best charging performance.
