The Dynamo Commercial Air Hockey Goalie Mallets don't come with felt bottoms, according to the manufacturer's product description. Instead, they have a smooth base that’s designed for fast and slick play. This is a bit different from the felt-bottomed mallets you might be used to, which can collect dust and potentially scratch your table because they’re hollow. These mallets weigh about 4.5 ounces each, so they're a bit heavier than the typical ones, which some believe might improve performance.

Based on our research, the smooth base design gets a thumbs up from several folks who appreciate the control and sturdiness it provides. They're often praised for their handling and solid build. One person even exclaimed, "Very sturdy and handle abuse; Dynamo is the one to buy!"

That's a strong recommendation if you're looking for durable gear that can take some intense play.

However, not everyone is thrilled about the lack of felt. Some worry about potential scratching without the felt cushion, especially if your table isn't an arcade-quality one. One person even mentioned their concern that the mallet might feel "sticky" on the surface.

In the end, whether these mallets are right for you might come down to what you’re prioritizing—speed and control with the mallet’s smoothness or a more table-friendly option. Just keep in mind what kind of air hockey table you have and your personal preferences when making your decision.
