Yes, you can put treats in the KONG Extreme Tire. It's not just about being a tough chew toy; it also doubles as a treat dispenser. The manufacturer mentions that you can stuff treats inside, and the tire's design will keep your dog busy trying to get them out. So, it can keep your dog entertained in more ways than one.
Our research shows mixed feedback on the tire's durability. Some folks are really happy with how it holds up. For example, there's a story of dachshunds who haven't been able to destroy it even after intense play, and another about a Bernadoodle and Great Pyrenees puppy who've been using it for months without any issues.
But, not everyone has the same experience. A few people mentioned that their determined pups managed to wear it out pretty quickly, especially some of the strongest and biggest breeds. Also, some have noted that the tire seemed smaller than expected, which might affect its durability with super strong chewers.
Overall, it seems to do well with many dogs, especially those that aren’t the most intense chewers. Just keep an eye out initially to see how your dog handles it.
If you're thinking it might not be tough enough, KONG has other options like the KONG Extreme Ball or KONG Extreme Goodie Bone.
