The Retevis RA55 Mountain Radios aren't really waterproof, at least according to how the manufacturer describes them. So, if you're planning on using them around a lot of water or during heavy rain, they might not be the best fit. They're more suited for dry mountaineering and outdoor adventures.
Even though they can't handle much moisture, these radios do have some good stuff going for them. They've got a durable build with a silicone case that makes them tough against general wear and tear.
Plus, they come with a carabiner clip, which is pretty handy for attaching them to your gear.
Another cool feature is the AI noise reduction function. This helps you communicate clearly even when there's a lot of background noise—like when you're on a windy mountain.
So, if your activities tend to keep you dry, these radios could be a solid option. They're lightweight, have good sound quality, and the battery lasts pretty well too.
But, if you might be around water more often, like kayaking or something similar, it might make sense to look at other models that are water-resistant.
For wetter outings, Retevis offers the RT49P model with an IP67 rating, which means it's better protected against water and dust.
Just something to think about when choosing the right radio for your adventures.
