TLDR Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 - PS5
Verdict
*Call of Duty®: Black Ops 7 - PlayStation 5* is a must-try for Call of Duty fans craving more fast-paced, multiplayer action, especially if you already have Black Ops 6, since it’s essentially an efficient upgrade. However, if you prioritize realistic graphics, sound, and immersive tactical gameplay, you might find this entry a bit lacking due to its quirky, less serious elements and technical shortcomings. For those looking for a grittier, more realistic shooter experience, trying something like *Ready or Not* could be a refreshing alternative. Overall, it’s a solid addition to the franchise but don’t expect a flawless leap forward in every aspect.
- Top pro:
- The game offers a very fun and engaging experience, especially for fans of the Call of Duty series.
- Top con:
- The lack of a pause function can be highly frustrating, combined with the fact that the game kicks you for inactivity, disrupting gameplay.
Pros
- •The game offers a very fun and engaging experience, especially for fans of the Call of Duty series.
- •Transitioning from Black Ops 6 to Black Ops 7 is seamless and convenient, essentially just an update that saves significant download time.
- •The gameplay, notably in Warzone mode, continues to deliver hours of fun and encourages playing both solo and with friends online.
- •It provides good value for the price, making it a solid choice for those invested in the franchise.
- •The game is considered by some as the best Call of Duty since Modern Warfare 3, marking a significant improvement over Black Ops 6.
- •It makes a great gift for younger players, suitable for social play and multiplayer sessions.
- •Overall, the quality aligns with expectations from previous titles in the series, offering an enjoyable gaming experience.
Cons
- •The lack of a pause function can be highly frustrating, combined with the fact that the game kicks you for inactivity, disrupting gameplay.
- •Graphics disappoint in 4K on PS5 and 4K TVs, with blurry visuals and poor detail that detract from immersion.
- •Weapon sound effects feel unrealistic and cheap, likened to toy guns, which breaks the intense atmosphere.
- •Extremely unrealistic gameplay aspects such as requiring too many shots to down enemies, choppy animations, and absurd elements like swords dropping from the sky undermine the game's tactical military shooter vibe.
- •The forced mix of zombie elements detracts from the realistic war experience some players expect.
- •The single-player campaign's dependency on co-op play may alienate solo players.
- •Futuristic components are less appealing and seen as a step down compared to prior installments.
- •While the game tries to deliver a quality experience, the overall feel is not as polished or immersive as Black Ops 6.
