The 8 Inch Purple Plasma Ball is usually safe for kids, but it's a good idea to keep an eye on them while they're using it since it does have a glass structure that could be fragile. According to the manufacturer's product description, it's both touch and sound-sensitive, which makes it interactively fun to play with. When someone touches the glass, the plasma inside moves towards their fingertips, creating a pretty cool light show. It's safe, too, as you just feel a slight vibration from the glass.

From what we've seen, people generally enjoy the touch feature. Both kids and adults seem to find it really fun. The sound-sensitive part can be hit or miss, though. Some people love how it reacts to sounds like music or voices, but others have mentioned that you sometimes need to crank up the volume for it to really respond, which can be a bit of a letdown if you're expecting it to be more sensitive.

As a novelty item, it can be a fun way to get kids interested in science, especially physics and electricity. Plus, it adds a unique and dynamic touch to any room as a decoration.

If you're thinking about safety, the glass is designed to be touched and shouldn't cause any harm. But because it's made of glass, it's best to handle it carefully to avoid any accidents.

All in all, with a bit of supervision, this plasma ball can be a cool and safe way for kids to explore science and enjoy a neat gadget. If the sound feature is a big deal for you, keep in mind that the experience might vary a bit and maybe check out some demos first.
