nullIt's glossy, and Apple doesn't give you a choice. No matte option on any MacBook Air.
What that means in practice:
The glossy screen looks fantastic. Colors pop, blacks are deep, text is crisp. In controlled lighting, it's beautiful.
But near windows or under bright lights, you'll see reflections. They can be annoying in spaces you don't control.
What you can do:
Adjust your position. Tilt the screen so light sources aren't directly behind you.
Crank up brightness. At 500 nits, the display can overpower some reflections.
Third-party matte protectors. They reduce glare but add slight texture and may reduce color vibrancy. Moshi makes decent ones.
If reflections are a dealbreaker:
The MacBook Pro M4 offers nano-texture as an option. It's Apple's anti-glare technology and works well. The catch: the Pro starts at $1,599, and nano-texture adds $150.
For most people:
You adapt. Position your desk thoughtfully, and the glossy screen stops being a problem.
Check MacBook Air M4 prices and plan your workspace lighting.
