---

Most teams start tracking competitor prices in a spreadsheet: a row per product, a column per competitor, and a weekly afternoon spent opening product pages and typing in what each store charges. This template is that spreadsheet, set up properly so the math is done for you. Each of its 100 rows holds one product with its name, its UPC or EAN barcode and your own price, then three competitors, each with the store’s name, the product’s URL there, the price you saw and the date you checked it.

Four columns fill themselves in. Lowest competitor price takes the smallest of the three prices you entered. Cheapest competitor names the store that has it. Your gap vs lowest shows how far above (a positive number) or below (a negative number) the lowest price you are, in dollars and as a percentage, so you can sort by the products where you are furthest off the market. Prices are formatted as dollars, dates as year-month-day, and the barcode column is stored as text, so leading zeros on UPCs survive.

The check-date columns matter more than they look: a competitor price from three weeks ago is a guess, not a fact, and the date tells you which rows to re-check first. When the list grows past what you can check by hand, or you need to know the moment a competitor changes a price, the same file can be uploaded to ShopSavvy Business, which reads the product and barcode columns and starts checking those products for you.

## When to use it

- You track a few dozen products against a handful of competitors and want a clean place to record what you find.
- You want to see at a glance which products are priced above the market, and by how much.
- You are deciding whether price monitoring is worth automating and want to measure how long checking by hand takes.

## How to use it

1. Open the downloaded file in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets (File > Import in Sheets).
2. Fill in one product per row: name, the UPC or EAN from the package or your catalog, and your current price.
3. For each competitor, paste the product’s URL, the price you see there and today’s date. The four columns on the right update by themselves.
4. To stop checking by hand, upload the same file at shopsavvy.com/business/import: ShopSavvy Business reads the barcode column and tracks those products for you.
