## Verdict

The Shark Detect Pro Speed Lift-Away ADV LA742 stands out for its powerful suction and smart design features like DuoClean and the Lift-Away system, making it an excellent choice for homes with pets and long-haired individuals. Its tangle-resistant rollers and effective allergen-control technologies add to its appeal. However, if you frequently vacuum light rugs or want more convenient cord management and advanced suction control, you might want to consider other models. Overall, this vacuum offers strong value and performance for a versatile upright vacuum with specialized cleaning tech.

**Top pro:** Exceptionally powerful suction combined with DuoClean technology and dual roller brushes that excel at picking up long human hair and pet hair without tangling.
**Top con:** The vacuum can struggle with light or thin rugs because the dual rollers sometimes grip and pinch the fibers, requiring manual intervention to release.
