# TLDR Review: PUR Chrome Faucet Mount PFM400H *Published: 2025-05-04 | Updated: 2025-05-04 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/reviews-tldr/pur-chrome-faucet-mount-pfm400h* --- ## Verdict The PUR (PFM400H) Chrome Horizontal Faucet Mount with MineralClear Filter is a popular choice for those looking to enhance tap water taste and reduce reliance on bottled water. While it offers easy installation and significantly improves water quality, it may not be the best choice for households with hard water or newer model faucets. Consider this product for its convenience and taste improvement but be mindful of its potential durability issues. For those in areas with hard water or seeking a more durable option, an under-counter system might be a worthwhile investment despite the higher cost. **Top pro:** Easy installation, with most users setting it up in under five minutes without tools. **Top con:** Bulky design may obstruct sink use for some users. ## Product: PUR Chrome Faucet Mount PFM400H **Brand:** PUR [Compare prices and price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/pur-chrome-faucet-mount-pfm400h) ## Pros - Easy installation, with most users setting it up in under five minutes without tools. - Significantly improves the taste of water by removing chlorine and harsh chemicals. - Provides a convenient switch for alternating between filtered and regular tap water. - Cost-effective alternative to bottled water, enhancing environmental sustainability. - Accommodates different sink types thanks to included adapters. - Long-term savings on bottled water and filters like Brita. - Compact, horizontal design saves space compared to vertical filters. - Trusted brand, highly recommended for in-home water filtration. - Filter indicator light alerts you when it's time to change, ensuring optimal performance. ## Cons - Bulky design may obstruct sink use for some users. - Made from flimsy plastic, leading to potential breakage within six months to a year. - Issues with the impeller and light malfunctions complicate maintenance. - Water flow can be affected by hard water, reducing filter lifespan. - Not compatible with a wide range of newer faucet models. - Some users report housing cracks leading to leaks, necessitating frequent replacements. - Customer service experiences are mixed, often described as slow or unresponsive. - Chrome finish may chip easily, detracting from its aesthetic appeal. ## Pros vs Cons at a Glance | Pros | Cons | |------|------| | Easy installation, with most users setting it up in under five minutes without tools. | Bulky design may obstruct sink use for some users. | | Significantly improves the taste of water by removing chlorine and harsh chemicals. | Made from flimsy plastic, leading to potential breakage within six months to a year. | | Provides a convenient switch for alternating between filtered and regular tap water. | Issues with the impeller and light malfunctions complicate maintenance. | | Cost-effective alternative to bottled water, enhancing environmental sustainability. | Water flow can be affected by hard water, reducing filter lifespan. | | Accommodates different sink types thanks to included adapters. | Not compatible with a wide range of newer faucet models. | | Long-term savings on bottled water and filters like Brita. | Some users report housing cracks leading to leaks, necessitating frequent replacements. | | Compact, horizontal design saves space compared to vertical filters. | Customer service experiences are mixed, often described as slow or unresponsive. | | Trusted brand, highly recommended for in-home water filtration. | Chrome finish may chip easily, detracting from its aesthetic appeal. | | Filter indicator light alerts you when it's time to change, ensuring optimal performance. | | ## Last Seen Prices *Each price is the last one ShopSavvy observed, on 2025-05-04;
