## Pros
- Auto focus speed and accuracy have been significantly improved, making it one of the fastest in Nikon's lineup.
- Delivers excellent image quality with a 45MP stacked CMOS sensor, perfect for professional-grade shots.
- Features an electronically silent shutter, reducing noise and mechanical wear.
- Capable of high frame rates up to 20 fps in RAW and 120 fps in JPEG, great for capturing fast action.
- Outstanding autofocus tracking, including eye detection for people, pets, birds, and even polar bears.
- Compact, lightweight design compared to older Nikon DSLR models like the D850, easing portability.
- Supports 8K and 4K video recording with high bit depths, future-proofing your videography.
- The camera's build and features are considered a major upgrade—possibly the best Nikon has made.
- Reliable, with excellent color reproduction and vibrant images, suitable for cropping and editing.
- Silent operation and dust-resistant sensor shield provide versatility in delicate shooting environments.

## Cons
- Some users mention size concerns; while smaller than previous DSLRs, it's still larger and heavier than some mirrorless rivals.
- Manufacturing defects and initial recalls due to lens mounting issues can cause inconvenience and repair delays.
- Several reviews highlight hot card warnings, which can temporarily hinder shooting until resolved.
- Transition to touchpad controls reduces tactile feedback, which some photographers prefer for quick, direct access.
- Shorter recording times compared to the Z9 due to heat management, especially during extended 8K video shoots.
- Slightly detuned buttons and hybrid controls, requiring a learning curve to master.
- Some third-party batteries may not be compatible, and charger options are limited.
- The size, while smaller than DSLRs, still might not suit users with very small hands or those seeking ultra-light gear.
- Minor confusion over settings like "tone mode," requiring user familiarity with menu options.
- The body recall due to manufacturing issues slightly taints the otherwise high-quality reputation.

## Bottom Line

This Nikon Z8 is a powerhouse for both stills and video, offering an impressive collection of professional features packed into a more manageable size. Its fast autofocus, stellar image quality, and advanced video capabilities make it a top contender—possibly the best Nikon has ever built. However, be mindful of the initial manufacturing hiccups and the learning curve for controls. If you’re upgrading from a DSLR like the D850 or similar, this camera is a leap forward, but if size or initial reliability is a concern, you may want to consider waiting for updates or exploring other models.
