# TLDR Review: HP 61 / 61XL Ink Cartridges 2-Pack *Published: 2024-06-17 | Updated: 2024-10-25 | Source: https://shopsavvy.com/reviews-tldr/hp-61-61xl-ink-cartridges-2-pack* --- ## Verdict The HP 61/61XL Ink Cartridges offer good capacity and compatibility for older HP printers, making them an option for those who need more black ink. However, be cautious of potential issues with dried ink or incorrect sizing. Despite the high price, these cartridges provide decent longevity, but the cost might be prohibitive for budget-conscious buyers. Check other users’ experiences and consider your budget before purchasing. **Top pro:** The 61 XL version offers twice the printing capacity compared to the regular 61. **Top con:** Customers report receiving the wrong size, not the XL version that was ordered. ## Product: HP 61 / 61XL Ink Cartridges 2-Pack **Brand:** HP [Compare prices and price history on ShopSavvy](https://shopsavvy.com/products/hp-61-61xl-ink-cartridges-2-pack) ## Pros - The 61 XL version offers twice the printing capacity compared to the regular 61. - Typically lasts 4-6 months based on printing frequency, indicating good durability. - Compatible with older printer models, maintaining quality and compatibility. - Provides a larger amount of ink, ideal for users who generally use more black ink than color. - Conveniently available for purchase at Staples along with other office supplies. ## Cons - Customers report receiving the wrong size, not the XL version that was ordered. - The ink may be dried up or potentially expired, causing printing issues. - Ink cartridges, especially black, are very expensive and can drain quickly. - Experiences with print quality issues, notably distorted copies. - The color ink cartridge appears to be empty or fails upon installation, leading to printing errors. - High cost may be a burden for those with fixed incomes or limited budgets. ## Pros vs Cons at a Glance | Pros | Cons | |------|------| | The 61 XL version offers twice the printing capacity compared to the regular 61. | Customers report receiving the wrong size, not the XL version that was ordered. | | Typically lasts 4-6 months based on printing frequency, indicating good durability. | The ink may be dried up or potentially expired, causing printing issues. | | Compatible with older printer models, maintaining quality and compatibility. | Ink cartridges, especially black, are very expensive and can drain quickly. | | Provides a larger amount of ink, ideal for users who generally use more black ink than color. | Experiences with print quality issues, notably distorted copies. | | Conveniently available for purchase at Staples along with other office supplies. | The color ink cartridge appears to be empty or fails upon installation, leading to printing errors. | | | High cost may be a burden for those with fixed incomes or limited budgets. | ## Last Seen Prices *Each price is the last one ShopSavvy observed, on 2024-12-07;
