## Verdict

The GoPro Hero is a solid choice for those seeking a compact and portable action camera with impressive video quality and basic operation that caters to beginners. However, be aware of the shorter than advertised battery life and the necessity for a special SD card. While the price is attractive under $200, some users have encountered connection and battery issues that may affect overall satisfaction. If battery life is a critical factor, consider looking into alternative models with better performance. Overall, it’s an excellent option for its price range with some limitations to consider before purchasing.

**Top pro:** Well-made, sturdy construction despite its small size.
**Top con:** Battery life is shorter than advertised, lasting only up to 20-30 minutes on 4K settings.
